Trayvon Martin, Legal Privilege & Black & Poor Americans

My heart is broken today. I can’t imagine how Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton are getting through this., although I am grateful they are able to stand their ground and fight for justice for their son. But why do they have to go through all of this just to get an arrest of the man that killed their son?

The racism and social status aspects are no-brainiers. Having been a daughter of an attorney, working as a legal advocate and even being a defendant, I have literally seen people get away with attempted murder, aggravated assaults, etc with the right attorney or connections. I’ve seen slates wiped clean, charges dismissed and the the reverse. I have seen innocent people sit in jail up to 2 years waiting on trial to be found innocent. Go to any courtroom in the US and watch how cases where the defendant (usually free on bail) has an attorney are heard first, while those with public defenders in jail are heard last, if at all that day.

I even enjoyed the protection myself. I never did anything violent or drug related, but because of my deceased father, I didn’t suffer repercussions. Now as an adult who was estranged from that parent many years, living  a much lower social economic status, I quickly learned due process didn’t apply to people in my position.

But what tears me apart is now that the fact that Zimmerman’s father may be a judge or ex-judge, that John Oliver, Zimmerman’s token black defender maybe related to him by marriage and the prosecutor’s office is taking this to grand jury before arrest is blatant bending over backwards to protect Zimmernan’s rights. Right out in the open, not behind closed doors, not in hush and whispers but right in the face of every American, especially those innocent but sitting in jail on high bails that haven’t even been found guilty.

How can this be happening. If they want to fake impartiality they could have at least arrested him and given him low ball bail, but they won’t even do that.

Justice is not blind & this case just reeks of how the racism and classicism our judicial system functions on everyday. It’s sickening.

The horror of the murder of 17 year old Trayvon Martin coupled with the injustice of shooter George Zimmerman remaining free is more than most can bear. This incredibly promising young man gunned down by a racist “vigilante” for “looking suspicious is something we can’t tolerate. Thankfully hundreds of folks have taken to social media to demand justice for Trayvon’s family.

But our celebrities, the people we have elevated to fame for their talents & have  brought entertainment to our lives are a special category. They have large followings & great influence with their fan base giving them the ability to raise awareness & spread the message on a monumental scale.  They didn’t have to get involved but many more than 14 did and we owe a great debt of gratitude to those that so generously supported us in this cause, like we have done them

So to set the record straight here is a list some of the most prolific supporters the Daily Beast’s Article left out:

I know I am missing some people & we appreciate every single tweeter celebrity and non celebrity. But while no celebrity owes us anything, those that truly have our backs in times of need like this are due a special debt of gratitude for giving back. I make a conscious effort to spend my money for those celebrities that give back. I think we all should try to.  Thank you all for taking time out of your massive schedules to help  get Justice for Trayvon. Please follow, thank and support them, they deserve it!

Editor’s note the “links” to the tweeter accts don’t work but they are the official acct names I don’t have time to go back now but please manually follow them anyway. Show ur support for those who support us back, pls!

  2. Please add any additional celebs supporting #JusticeforTrayvon in the comments section so we know who supports us. Thank you

Brought me to tears.

3rd Eye of the Storm

On August 28th, 1955, fourteen-year-old Emmett Till was dragged from his home by two racist white men, beaten, shot, and strung to a 70-pound cotton gin as his then-lifeless body was thrown into a river. The killers, Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam went into their  murderous rage because Till had allegedly whistled at a white woman. Bryant and Milam were found not guilty on all charges, but went on to openly brag about their deed, claiming young Emmett Till deserved to die because he had overstepped his bounds. He embarked into social territory no black man had any place being. And for that, Emmett Till was tragically and brutally murdered.

Fast forward to February 26th, 2012, seventeen-year old Trayvon Martin was walking home from the store with a bag of Skittles and an Arizona Iced Tea when self-appointed Neighborhood Watch “captain” George Zimmerman gunned young Trayvon…

US Federal Bigoted Judge Cebull Breaks Code of Ethics & May Escape Punishment. STOP HIM NOW!

Image1) US Federal District Court Judge Cebull sent out this email SLANDERING President Obama & his family, from his official courthouse email address:

Subject: “A Mother’s Memory”

“Normally I don’t send or forward a lot of these, but even by my standards, it was a bit touching,” the email reads. “I want all of my friends to feel what I felt when I read this. Hope it touches your heart like it did mine.
A little boy said to his mother; ‘Mommy, how come I’m black and you’re white?’

His mother replied, ‘Don’t even go there Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you’re lucky you don’t bark!

If you missed the “joke” Cebull implies the President’s conception could have occurred from an act of bestiality, his mother being such a loose woman she’s not sure who she had sex with or basically Judge Ceball is bigoted & too stupid to keep his private beliefs to himself. Of course he apologized at least 2x. First defending the “joke“as “not being racist” but “Anti-Obama”. Later realizing that wouldn’t cut it, he “re-apologized” admitting racism, bad judgement, promising to “never to it again” and proclaiming “he doesn’t know what else he could do” in a brief letter directly to President Obama.

Cebull holds a high position in the Federal Court system, where he makes decisions that can forever effect the lives of people and policies that shape our nation.

Like all judges he takes an oath of impartiality in all his cases & rulings. The US Code of Judicial Conduct mandates that judges “should personally observe high standards of conduct so that the integrity and independence of the Judiciary are preserved.”, along with mandating judges “avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in all activities”—applying to both professional and personal conduct.

Judges are directed to “refrain from partisan political activity” and “should not publicly endorse or oppose a partisan political organization or candidate.”

Judge Cebull willfully with full knowledge ignored these obligations to the bench along with expressing deep-seated racist, bigoted bias publically. There is no way, no apology that can ensure us that Cebull doesn’t also disregard these feelings in his position. Strong evidence already suggest bias plays a major role in convictions of poor people and minorities from judges smart enough to not publish these believes. Cebull dumb enough to even openly publish these thoughts can not be trusted.

Yet there are many from the court system coming to his defense, labeling this as an “unfortunate mistake” in an other wise stellar career.

According to Steven Lubet , a legal ethics expert from Northwestern University “The conduct here, although deeply offensive and highly regrettable, isn’t a high crime or misdemeanor, so he won’t be removed from the bench,” Lubet said. He added that Cebull will face a reprimand or censure that will forever be on his record. “This is one of the harshest actions his fellow judges can make,” Lubet said. “It means they are criticizing him publicly and that is very rarely done in the case of federal judges.”

No matter what race, ideology or whether you agree with the joke, no one should want a Cebull with his total disregard for the tenets of his office and obvious bias to be on any judicial bench. It compromises the integrity judicial system and puts all people at risk to be effected by his despicable decision. If the courts won’t remove him as Lubert suggests, our only recourse is to DEMAND thru petition and calls to restore our judicial system to at minimum judges not  so egotistical they feel above ethical standards of their roles. At best, truly impartial judges smart enough to keep their personal biases out of their rulings.

NO CITIZEN IS SAFE WITH THIS KIND OF OPEN BIGOTRY ON THE BENCH! Pls demand his resignation by filing a complaint with U.S. District Courts at , calling Judge Cebull’s chambers 1-406-247-4490, signing petitions at or
