On August 28th, 1955, fourteen-year-old Emmett Till was dragged from his home by two racist white men, beaten, shot, and strung to a 70-pound cotton gin as his then-lifeless body was thrown into a river. The killers, Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam went into their murderous rage because Till had allegedly whistled at a white woman. Bryant and Milam were found not guilty on all charges, but went on to openly brag about their deed, claiming young Emmett Till deserved to die because he had overstepped his bounds. He embarked into social territory no black man had any place being. And for that, Emmett Till was tragically and brutally murdered.
